A description of the puppies is best done by reviewing the temperament of the Belgian Malinois;
The Belgian Malinois is very popular in the U.S. in the field of law enforcement because they are constantly ready for action & are relatively free of physical problems. They reflect the qualities of intelligence, courage, alertness & devotion to master.
Our pups have an inheherent aptitude to protect as flock gardian dogs do, they are watchful, attentive & always observant & vigilant with strangers, but not prone to attack unprovoked or otherwise, of course proper training can turn these pups into excellent security dogs. With people they know well they are most affectionate, friendly, zealous of their attention & very possesive. They are very keen to movement, therefore to body language. Any move you make, they will pick up on. This is very important for puppies, since they regard their human as the pack leader. Some pups go thru a growth period during which they may show either fear, shyness or aggressiveness. The owner who pets the pup excessively , hoping to convey reassurance, is actually transmitting fears from owner to pup, who is then being rewarded for the unwanted behavior. Ignoring the undesirable behavior & rewarding the good behavior will give the pup confidence. They are handler oriented, but some are handler sensitive, which is what makes them so easy to train, as they are willing to please, BUT Beware, the heavy handed owner will very easily ruin such a dog, while the one who trains with motivation will have a 'wonder' dog.
